Tidung Island


About Island Tidung
Tidung Island is the center of the Thousand Islands District South. The island isinhabited by more than 3 thousand families. Most of the inhabitants are fishermen.
on the east side of this island there are small Tidung Island. Now these two islands are connected by a very beautiful wooden bridge. We can along at the bridge, lookingdown the clear sea with stunning coral reefs and colorful fish. The length of the bridgeabout 2 miles.
History
The island is already inhabited by people since the Dutch colonial era. In the bookHistory of Djakarta, mentioned that when Fatahillah invaded Malacca, he and his troopsmake use of existing islands in the Bay of Jakarta as a place to set the strategy. One of the island was named Island Tidung,which means island shelter.
